22. Jun 2009, mittagsOne, two, three, four, five

Nadja has started to count. Okay, she can say the numbers in correct order. However, we were really surprised when Christiane was counting while changing the diapers: “One… two… three” and Nadja – out of the blue – continued with “Four!” First we thought it was a misunderstanding or coincidence. So we tested again: “One, two, three” – “Four” was Nadjas answer again. Meanwhile we can do this till “Five”, supported by fingers. ;-)

28. May 2009, kurz vorm MittagNadja and Lea

Lea Sophie is my brother’s daughter and a big fan of her cousin Nadja. Or course Nadja is a big fan of Lea, too ;-). Monday is Grandma & Grandpa-Day. That means my parents pick up Nadja from Kindergarten. Usually Lea will join them as soon as school is out. Luckily everything is very close. School, kindergarten and the flats of my brother and my parents are within less than 5 min walking distance.

Having both girls under control is quite a challenge, which Grandma and Grandpa can meet phantasticly. And they are rewarded with many beautiful moments. Some of them they could save on zelluloid memory cards. The pictures were taken in March, however enjoy Lea and Nadja in action!

10. Apr 2009, (hoffentlich) FeierabendNadja and the flowers

Nadja has a ‘green thumb’. Or at least she is working to get one. In any case, at the moment nothing is more interesting than watering the flowers. Very carefully (and even quite successfully) Nadja is taking care for the plants on the balcony. Because they shall grow. And Nadja shall grow as well. Suddenly, the rest of the watering can (or cannikin) was spilled out all over her. First there was a short moment of shock. Then she was laughing loud, even if she was like a drowned rat. And as soon as we (after having a laugh as well) changed her dress she immediately went to water the remaining flowers.

09. Apr 2009, nachmittagsBeing creative!

No, it has nothing to do with the creativity concept of Nadja’s kindergarten. I guess Christiane is waiting for very long time to finally tinker with Nadja. And painting Easter eggs is a classic start, at least in Germany. Blowing the eggs was really hard (is there any trick to make this easier?!?), the scrambled eggs we made were delicious. Painting the eggs was the best – by far! Seeing how much fun Nadja had, hopefully it can be seen on the pictures…

30. Mar 2009, spaet abendsOur first family-holiday

The first holiday with Nadja. Okay, we had two long weekends with her and our friends at Whitsun and New Year’s Eve. However, this was the first long holiday as a family. After some research we followed a recommendation of Tom finally: the Familotel (family hotel) “Rookhus” at the “Great Labus Lake” near Wesenberg, located in the Mueritz National Park.

Although the  weather was not the best – nearly 0°C, stormy, rainy, even snowy days with only few hours of sun – we really enjoyed the time. As the saying goes: There is no bad weather, only wrong clothing. Still, a little more sun would have been great. However, the hotel offered indoor playgrounds so we were not stuck in the room only. In general the “Familotel” was well prepared for children, even the little ones. Our “Babyroom” was a spacious double room with a seperate chamber which featured a baby bed and a diaper changing table. So we could bring Nadja to bed and stay in the hotel room without disturbing her sleep. Very friendly and helpful was the staff who was used to handle the children well. And if you wounder how “romantic hotel” and “family hotel” go together… yes, it sounds like antipodes, but it worked fine. How? Find out yourself – with or without kids :-)

15. Mar 2009, mittagsNadja talks a walk

Okay, I have to admit, the video is not really spectacular. At least not for you, probably. A little child walks some distance. So what?

Why I recorded it anyway and even posted it here? On one hand side I like the colours, on the other hand side yesterday was the first sunny day here in Berlin for a long time. And, probably the main reason: because I am still fascinated that Nadja can walk now. And I am (still) surprised when she just stands up and starts to walk around ;-)

01. Mar 2009, mittagsFinally! News from Nadja

UPDATE: I uploaded some more pictures taken this weekend. Nadja driving her Bobbycar and the first “sessions” on the potty.

It took a long time. First, I did not find time for blogging. Then, when I started to write on Saturday, I got problems with my system. I just could not upload any pictures anymore! After a long sunday evening, which turned into an even longer sunday night, I was lost and desparate. I had tried to upgrade the system to the latest version (which failed due to some small mistake by myself) and finally had to rollback to the previous (back-uped) version. Today I finally found the reason. It is not WordPress, it is also not my beloved NextGenGallyer-Plugin. The reason is 1&1, my hoster. Luckily I found a workaround, if you are interested.

Fact 1: Now I definitely will change my hoster with the end of my running contract. The price-service-ratio is miserable. My new blog is running at Strato already.

Fact 2: Nothing of this is probably at any interest of you. You were looking for updates from Nadja, so here they are:

27. Jan 2009, nachmittagsLearning to eat

Today’s menu was pumpkin soup. A lovely experience, watching Nadja eating it. Especially when her left hand dived into the soup first and then, in a typical move, was “pressed” against her forehead. This had to be documented! And in connection with the photos of the classic “spinach lunch” togehter with the pictures made by her grandparents this weekend during breakfast a nice gallery is completed.

To all couples becoming pr planning to become parents: It’s not that bad, most of the blurs go away while warm mashine wash :-)
