Today I want to publish a new blog post, finally! Well, even if you read this at the time of publishing, it’s been more than one month since I wrote this lines. Why? Because the family portrait which is the reason for this posting is a birthday present to my dad. While now, when I am writing these lines, is the 26th of September, his b-day party will be on 29th of October only. So I will use Wordpress’ publishing time feature to get this article live while we are partying with him in approximately one month time.
Well, what else should I say with regards to the picture… what else than “Time is running fast…”. Because this one feels like it was taken yesterday.
Okay, it’s not really the first encounter. But at least the first I have on video. Spontaneously recorded, with the iPhone. Because I found it cute. So please do not complain about the quality, the content is what counts :-)
25th November 2009, 0:55 am: our son Malte Lennart enters this world. For the stats: 3300g and 49cm. The birth itself ran smoothly, just as written in the books. Still, it was a miracle! Mam and Malte are just fine, and Dad, too. Nadja was pampered by Grandma and Grandpa and could not wait to see Malte next morning. But enough said, let the pictures talk!
The destination for our summer vacation 2009 was Lajatico in Tuscany, Italy. We have been there two times before, and also the third time we liked it very much! It was great for us three to relax, spent time together and forget about time, work and other daily duties. During the weekends we were four as Christianes sister Ulrike visited us. She is currently living in Florence and was happy to see her nice again. As everybody knows the “typical” pictures of beautiful Tuscany, we selected only a few personal ones. Enjoy!

Already two. Nadja celebrated her second birthday during our holidays in Tuskany. So we had only a small party: the three of us and her aunt Rike, who is currently working in Firenze (Florence). It was just amazing to see her eyes lit up when she saw the ballons and the presents…
02. Sep 2009, kurz vorm FeierabendThe Wedding
Finally, last weekend the wedding took place: Denny and Doreen became husband and wife. Christiane, who was selected as maid of honour, did a lot of preparation and organisation for the party. And being her husband, of course I supported her (at least a little bit). To cut a long story short: it was a fantastic party with a beautiful couple. Everything run smoothly, no bad surprises or mistakes happened. Christiane and Robert, the best man of Denny, fully managed the whole day, and could even enjoy the party themselves ;-)
From my point of view it is the choice of the wedding couple to present photos. So I only post one particular picture I love very much. It was taken during a break of the official shooting, to catch the “best friends”, bride and maid of honour, on this very day.
25. May 2009, kurz vorm FeierabendThe miracle

We hesitated a little before announcing it here. Probably because we could not believe it ourselves. Or better: needed some time to realize it, to believe it. And maybe because we wanted the first 12 weeks, which are said to be critical, to pass by. However, a lot of people around us already know it, and now it’s time to “tell it the world”: We are going to be parents again!
“Okay, great, congratulations. But “miracle“? Isn’t that a bit overreacting?” some of you may think. Especially as we have already a wonderful daughter, Nadja. That’s right, somehow! However then I may recommend to read this blog post dated 6th February 2008. Maybe then you understand why we call it a miracle… because we were told by the doctors that we will never be able to get birth to a baby. “Doing it naturally” we were told the chances would be 1:1.000.000 - okay, this was not a proven statistical figure. However, after even test-tube fertizilation did not work for us, we “closed that file”… and then we got this (positive) shock!
So, what’s left?
1) “Mother nature” plays her own game – doctors can only do something, but not everything.
2) You are officially promoted to the circle of people who can tell any couple planning to adopt a baby: “Yes, go ahead. After adoption you will get pregnant then. I know a couple…” ;-)
No, it has nothing to do with the creativity concept of Nadja’s kindergarten. I guess Christiane is waiting for very long time to finally tinker with Nadja. And painting Easter eggs is a classic start, at least in Germany. Blowing the eggs was really hard (is there any trick to make this easier?!?), the scrambled eggs we made were delicious. Painting the eggs was the best – by far! Seeing how much fun Nadja had, hopefully it can be seen on the pictures…
23. Jan 2009, kurz vorm Feierabend Snow
(published via WordPress for iPhone)
As this post was published via the iPhone I could not deliver the English version until today. I am sorry for any inconvinience :-)
6 am wake up in Berlin, at noon on the ski slope already. That is a completely new experience for a guy from Berlin. And a nice one – thanks to cheap airlines like transavia! Berlin-Tegel airport to Innsbruck airport only 1 hour flight time. All right, somehow we “missed” the 9+ hours in the car to get “prepared” for the ski holiday. But as soon as we were wearing ski clothes and shoes and pressed the skipass to the sensor of the ski lift we realized “Yes, it’s skiing time!”
Another interesting insight I had: How do you realize you do to much business trips? When arriving at the airport I felt like “work” – for most other travellers the airport is a symbol for “holidays”.

Nadja likes fruits, best bananas. Sometimes also apples, peaches or mango. Now, in (pre-)christmas time, we bought some oranges. Nice mellow Navelina oranges from Spain. Usually juicy and sweet. Nadjas first contact with this fruit – which was not that sweet after all – we recorded. Enjoy!
If you have a good internet connection, here is a high resolution version (after the break):
