Sometimes old things have their own special appeal: They are interesting again because the fashion style repeats. Or they are made in a way which is called “time-less design”. Or they are simply that old they just became “classics”. Read the rest of this entry »
A small update to the project “Treppe 2.0″ (Stairs 2.0): the welcome-screen was optimized. And, as announce previously, another security-feature for Stairs 2.0 went live: the HANDRAIL. Should be glazed but somehow we were not able to convince ourself to “swing the brushes”. Because, IF we start, we would have to glaze also the weather side of the hazienda. And, of course, the terrace would need some refreshment with oil as well. Probably not a hard job, if you start it. Well, we just did not start – yet :-)
Starting monday this week Nadja is attending the kindergarten. Although we were very late and had not much of a choice left we were lucky in the end: Nadja got a place in our preferred kindergarten on short notice. This one is working according to the creativity concept of a Prof. Mehlhorn from Leipzig. I tried to explain in a bit in German which is tricky. Before I fail completely when trying it in English I directly refer to the webpage. To cut is short: We hope Nadja can develop herself and her creativity, personality and intelligence there as good as possible.
However, the first days which are used for familarisatiion went very well. As hoped and – based on our experiences with Nadja meeting other kids – also as expected. On the first day she was irritated and a bit scared when a older girl from the group crawled over to her, pushing her and scratching (accidentely) in Nadjas face. But she calmed down quickly. Tuesday she was “reading” a book with the nurse relaxed already. On wednesday she was nearly the only baby not crying when a bit stress broke out (one child felt and cried, another had the trots and the nurses hurried to fix everything). Instead of crying Nadja just crawled away from the crowd and played with a toy. Today it was the first time Christiane left the room for 15 minutes. Again, no problem for Nadja. In fact we were told she had danced to the music meanwhile. Well, what shall we say: a perfect girl! :-)
Exiting weeks lay behind us. The last “real” holiday we had in January, skiing with friends in Austria. Shortly afterwards Nadja appeared in our life and mixed everything upside down. Allright, she was supported by the move we made in our new flat we did nearly at the same time. And at work there was and is still a lot of action going on. So it was time for some vacation, for relaxing and recreation – before I start my 4 weeks-”baby leave” ;-)
Makeshifts experience often a very long life. This applied also to the first version of the stairs (three or four years of service) to the terrace. So finally I followed my mother’s wish to ‘relaunch’ the stairs . The old platform was not stable enough to handle the traffic. Especially in the evening after BBQ and Wine ;-) System breakdowns were feared which could case user damages. To avoid lawsuits and claims for damages an upgrade from the old ‘wood pile’-framework to the newer ‘Beton’-platform was scheduled. Not to early as at least one pile already revealed significant traces of decay virus attack. Additionally there is an upgrade with the newest security-plugin ‘handrail’ planed. With this feature the usability and comfort for unsecure users will be improve further. Read more about it in one of the next blog postings!
