Not really surprising when thinking about the parents (Christiane: IT-Consultant, Martin: New Media Manager): Nadja is discovering the world of computer. Her first Word-document has still to be decrypted as well as her first message on Skype (anyone any idea what “k,kiiiiiimooo nkmikuunkniizznnnnnj+” or “vfhf bg hht hhhhhhhhhh n ,kj” means?). ;-) That she is not afraid of computers is clearly visible on the picture! Thanks to built-in iSight webcam and a nice program named “Photo Booth“. Thanks to MacBook Pro :-)
Our trip to the Baltic Sea on Whitsun – which was in fact the first travel for Nadja – was great. No problems with Nadja, the car trip (approximately 3 hours) was not an issue for her, nor sleeping in a travel bed somewhere else than home. So the next challenge for her was the first weekend in the cottage, our weekend-house. Again, as expected: no problems for Nadja. She seems to love the green surrounding :-)
The only trouble was for Christiane to collect and pack all the stuff which we had to bring to the cottage after the winter break: it looked like we would travel for 3 months. Well, chances are that the car will be less crammed this weekend :-) The challenge for Martin was to repair the water pipes. There were two leaks caused by temperature change during winter. One was fixed quickly but the second was hard: a connection (an elbow fitting) which works by “plug and leak-proof” was broken on one side. The other was still “leak-proof” connected. Even after buying the specialized “removal tool” I was not able to disconnect the elbow. Main reason: I could barely reach it as it was just in the corner next to the kitchenette. Well, after some tries I decided to use the “Flex” (angle grinder) - “if the smart way does not work, maybe force IS an option”. No everything is fine again and prepared for the next sunny garden weekend. :-)

Now it is officially – my transformation from a PC to a Mac is finished. Since my boss “forced me” with a lot of arguments to choose a Mac as business laptop nearly one year ago I got so used to this nice piece of computer that I finally switched to Mac for personal use as well. Scholz family is now a proud owner of a brand new MacBookPro. With multi-touchpad and a lot of other cool stuff :-)
One hundred postings. Wow. Who would have expected that? All right, probably my family and friends as they know I LOVE to talk and tell and communicate ;
Nearly one year ago, in June 2007, I wrote my first posting. Thanks to the support of my colleague Nils I was able to update my website last summer. For me a “Must have” since I changed from the international print business team in the newly founded team “New Media International”. Becase my old homepage(s), static, partly written in HTML by myself, partly done with programs like NetObjects in HTML, were not longer “up to date”. Thanks to WordPress I now own a modern blog. And thanks to a lot of easy-to-use and very helpful plug-ins there are even features like tag-cloud, multilingual posts, photo-shows with cool designs, “built-in” videos (instead of YouTube-streaming :-) ) available just like on professional big websites. Let’s see what I will plug in next… More important than all these nice gadgets is still one thing: “Content” – what is published here. I hope, this keeps interesting for you – if not: please give me a hint! :-)
